Swing

  1. Thank you for creating these playlists! So helpful for teachers and students! Would you be willing to put some playlists together for levels 7-10?

    1. I’m glad you find these playlists helpful! Yes, I’d like to create more playlists! Perhaps for the upper levels I’ll base them on the syllabus rather than the books so that they’ll reflect all the choices available to students at the upper levels. I find the advanced kids are more curious about all the repertoire choices.

  2. I also received the same email text – word for word – from an ‘Alice Gallum’. I started down the rabbit hole of communicating with her and the moving company. The thing that caught me was she offered to pay 40% of the transportation fee and supposedly Zelled that amount to the moving company without my saying I definitely wanted the piano. The moving company then emailed me and asked for the balance. That made me uncomfortable so I googled her name and found your website. Thank you so much for providing this information to the public.

  3. What about “Silly Slime” and “Rock the Baby” as well as “Shades of Blue” (the latter of which you have been putting off?)

    1. You’re right, I have a lot of projects on the back burner! I’ve decided I’ll only be able to put one book out per year (if I stay on track). It takes a lot of time for a self-published writer to oversee an entire project. I’d produce 2-3 times as much material if I had a team to do the layout, text material, editing and promotion. 🙂 Last year I put out Rock the Boat second edition, this year another book to be released this summer. I have a multi-year plan to release all the titles you know about!

    1. This I don’t entirely know. I would paint with tea and then teach for the day, and when I checked the papers again, they would be dry. Or I would paint with tea in the evening, and they would be dry by morning. I hope you do this project, and when you do, perhaps you’ll find out how much time it takes and can let me know. It might help others with the same question!

  4. I recently purchased your Jolly Old St. Nicholas/Pachelbel’s Canon set and would like you to know it has been a great hit with not just my beginner students, but even the elementary ones. Some learn it by rote, others sight read it – but everyone just loves how it sounds. Parents included! Thank you Rebekah! I would be interested to know if you have any other pieces like this ?

    1. Jane, it simply warms my heart to hear how Jolly Pachelbel has been a hit with your students! You’ve just made my day! 🙂
I do have another piece, a trio, called A Jolly Little Jingle, and it has several options for how it can be played. The lower part may be played by the teacher or an older student (there are two versions, one easier, the other more challenging, of the lower part). The middle part (Elementary) is a simple arrangement of Jingle Bells, and the upper part (Beginner) is Jolly Old Saint Nicholas. In the piece, first Jingle Bells plays with the lower part, then Jolly Old SN plays, then at the end, both Jingle Bells and Jolly Old Saint Nicholas play at the same time in counterpoint and it sounds incredible. The listening children in the audience get to play a game as they listen, to help identify which tunes they hear when. It helps the entire audience learn about counterpoint. I’m putting a performance together for my own studio this year. I hope you’ll take a listen!

  5. Rebekah, it is astonishing how reasonable it is to be part of your music club. I was amazed at this offer. It means a lot to me and other teachers too to have quality teaching materials fresh off the press every month plus having such wonderful resources to be able to access by level and teaching concepts with your organized links of when it was first offered. Thank you so much!

    1. Anna, I simply purchased boards at the hardware store at first, so I used what was available. It can be that simple — buy what is available close to you.
The exact measurements of my boards are:
Inches: 18″ wide, 7 1/2″ long (like the length of the foot), ~ 1 1/2″ thick.
      Centimetres: 45 cm wide, 18 1/2 cm long, 3 1/2-to-4 cm thick.
Best of luck with this project!
