Level 6 Royal Conservatory of Music: YouTube videos for Lists A, B, C and Studies

These YouTube Playlists correspond with the pieces printed in The Royal Conservatory of Music’s Celebration Series Sixth Edition, Level 6.

RCM Level 6 consists of two volumes.

The Piano Repertoire book contains three lists of music:

  • List A has Baroque Repertoire.
  • List B, Classical and Classical-style Repertoire.
  • List C, Romantic, 20th-, and 21st-century Repertoire. Teachers have the option of substituting a ‘Teacher’s Choice’ selection for List C.

The Etudes book contains 16 pieces (one or two pages each) that address technical development in a fun way for this Late Intermediate level.

Helpful hints:

To make it easy to listen through the volumes, these playlists are presented in the order that the music is printed in the books.

However, if you’d prefer to listen to just one title, click on the link or image given in each section. This will take you to the playlist in YouTube, where you will be able to listen to just one video.

These videos were chosen to help you get a sense of each piece.

You may need to adjust the volume at times, as the recordings may have different levels.

Level 6 Studies

Etudes are a middle ground between technical exercises (like scales) and repertoire pieces. Each etude focuses on a specific pianistic skill and helps you develop it in a concentrated, musical context.

Feedback

Because I’m using content developed by others, occasionally it will get deleted by the original creator. It will be impossible for me to keep track of it all, so if you notice that a piece has suddenly gone missing from a playlist, please contact me! I’ll find a replacement lickety-split!

Video of the Week

Joy in the Morning (Late Intermediate, Level 6). Develop the sense of the long melodic line and shaping of the phrase as it leads forward to its apex point. Agogic accents are encouraged. When a move feels too far for the strict time, it’s okay to take your time. The left hand features closed and open chords in a semi-Alberti bass pattern. Available as the studio-licensed Joy in the Morning eSheet!
